APPRENTICED TO MAGIC

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original cream cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Frontispiece diagram. A very good or better copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping at the spine tips, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents, with a small ink name and a small rectangular patch of gum residue (from a removed sticker) to the top edge of the front endpaper, and some spotting to the closed text block edge, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the lightly rubbed and nicked, price-clipped dustwrapper that has a few light marks and a touch of darkening to the spine.

Occultist Walter Ernest Butler (1898-1978), was a priest in the Liberal Catholic Church, who studied with Dion Fortune and was active in her Fraternity of the Inner Light for nearly two decades. In 1962 he became acquainted with Gareth Knight and went on to found the Servants of the Light, of which he remained the Director of Studies until shortly before his death, at which time the responsibilities were passed to Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki.
