First edition, first printing. Signed by the author and editor, Jim Clark. Original navy boards with white and gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated with three photographic colour plates, one of which is a double page spread, with many more black and white photographic plates throughout. An excellent fine copy, the binding square and firm, the boards fresh and bright, the head of the spine with the merest bumping. The contents are clean and bright throughout and without previous owners' stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the very good dustwrapper that is a little rubbed, nicked and creased at the edges and has a little bubbling to the laminate at the front flap fold. Not price-clipped (15s to the front flap). Scarce signed.

A richly illustrated, authoritative book that explores the many facets of competition racing, with contributions from drivers, motoring journalists and track side experts. At the time of his death, the 32 year old multi-record breaking racing driver Jim Clark had achieved 33 pole positions and had won 25 races from his 72 Grand Prix starts. He was leading the 1968 World Drivers' Championship, when he died in an accident during a Formula Two race at the Hockenheimring. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest racing drivers of all time, admired for his remarkable achievements and famous for his humility. He dominated world motor racing in all genres of motorsport, winning the Formula 1 World Championship in 1963 and 1965 adding the Indianapolis 500 in the same year (becoming the first non-American winner of the race in 49 years).
