First edition, first printing. Original green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine and front panel, in dustwrapper. With illustrations at the head of each chapter by Michael Whittlesea. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, the contents, except for a neat previous owner's ink address stamp to the half title, are clean throughout. The spine tips are lightly faded, with a little rubbing to the lower tip; Lightly bumped to lower outer corners; small dink to the lower edge of the front panel with a faint vertical scratch above it. Light spotting to page block edges. In the bright dustwrapper, lightly rubbed to spine tips. There are traces of removed tape-adhesive to the verso (also visible to the recto of the flaps). Not price-clipped (12/6 net to the front flap).

The 16th Lone Pine adventure. "Tom Ingles, now getting bored of working on his uncle's farm, gets a lift on a London-bound lorry driven on its night journey by one of his new friends. An attack on the lorry introduces the vivid, topical plot set against the author's familiar background of the Shropshire Hills" (from the jacket).
