BOSKY GOLDFISH (POET)

First edition. Publisher's pictorial paper covered boards with a navy cloth spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated on every page with fluid, lively colour illustrations that are characteristic of the era. A better than very good copy, the binding firm, with slight wear to the bottom edges, the spine tips and board corners a little rubbed and very slightly bumped. The contents, with some rust staining in the gutter where the binding is stapled, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with rubbed and nicked illustrated dustwrapper which has a few closed tears to the front and back, some chipping with minor loss to the spine tips, and a tear with loss to the top corner of the rear flap. Not price-clipped (5/- net to the lower front flap). Scarce in dustwrapper.

An entertaining and witty picture book that shows the influence that the dynamism of early 20th century animated cartoons had on book illustration. The author-artist Peter Thornhill was also a naval officer.
