STEP BY STEP. 1936 - 1939.

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original dark green cloth with gilt titles to the spine, ruled in blind to the upper board and spine. Illustrated with a full page map of China and a fold out map of Europe to the rear. An excellent better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, with a few light marks to the cloth and a slight bow to the upper board. The contents, with a little dustiness to the top edge of the closed text block and a small marginal annotation in pen to page 251, are otherwise clean throughout and free from inscriptions or stamps. The map, with a few small spots to the margins, is otherwise free from loss or tears.

A collection of 82 letters, about British foreign policy and defence, written by Churchill before the outbreak of the Second World War. Originally published in the Daily Telegraph and the Evening Standard between 1936 and 1939. (Cohen A111.1.a; Woods A45).
