A very good copy, the binding square and firm. The contents with some scattered foxing to the top edge of the textblock are otherwise clean and bright throughout. Complete with the very good dustwrapper which has a few minor marks and a touch of shelf wear to the extremities. Not price-clipped (£12.99 to the front flap).

Signed by Penelope Bennett in black ink on the title page and additionally signed and inscribed by her on the front pastedown "To Jon: / with love, / Penelope / literary staircase [with a drawing of staircase] / your support & / encouragement have not / been forgotten". A novella and a collection of short stories on the themes of destruction, inarticulacy, obsession and euphoria by the writer, artist and potter Penelope Bennett. The recipient of the present copy was Jon Wynne-Tyson (1924-2020), the publisher and activist for animal rights and vegetarianism.
