First combined edition, with new colour illustrations by E. H. Shepard and a new preface by A. A. Milne. Second issue. Publisher's original pink cloth with black titles, illustration and decorative borders to the upper board and spine, in the E. H. Shepard illustrated dustwrapper. With 12 full page colour plates and black and white line drawings throughout by E. H. Shepard. A very good copy, the binding firm, the spine a touch rolled, the cloth, a little mottled at the edges, is otherwise bright and fresh. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper that has a few small chips at the spine corners. An attractive example.
A wonderful collection of Milne's Christopher Robin and Winnie The Pooh verses, generously illustrated with Shepard's dynamic, characterful drawings, printed here in colour for the first time. The book and dustwrapper are in the second issue, the only differences being the colour of the binding of the book (pink cloth and black, rather than blue cloth and gilt) and the publisher's price of 6/- rather than 8/6 on the spine of the dustwrapper. The contents are identical in both issues.
