Limited edition. Signed by the illustrator. Publisher's original black cloth with gilt titles to the spine with an illustrated onlay on the upper board, in the David Ho illustrated dustwrapper. Top edge red. With illustrated endpapers, a frontispiece and five full page colour plates by David Ho. There are numerous reproductions of historic artworks interpreting Hell. A fine copy, the binding square and firm the contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the very near fine dustwrapper, that is a touch rubbed along the front flap fold and with a faint horizontal impression at the top of the spine.

Issued in an edition of 200 copies, this example is numbered 118 and signed by the illustrator David Ho and author of the introduction Patrick McGrath in black ink on the limitation page. There was also an edition of 22 copies numbered in Roman numerals and bound in leather, with a cloth traycase.
