First edition, first printing. Original navy blue cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the Pete Lyon illustrated dustwrapper. Illustrated in black and white with a map and chapter headings by Gary Chalk. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with some bumping and light fading to the spine tips. The contents, with a light mark to the closed upper edge of the text block, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the rubbed and creased dustwrapper that is a little faded to the spine and a little scuffed to the rear flap. Not price-clipped (£7.95 to the front flap).

The author's first book and the first title in the Redwall Saga of high fantasy rodent adventure, which went on to span 22 volumes. The Redwall Saga has been adapted into a television series, an opera and multiple video games.
