First UK edition, first printing. Publisher's original brown boards with gilt titles to the spine, in the Philip Youngman Carter illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding firm, the spine a little rolled, the boards bright and clean. The contents, with a little light spotting to the closed text-block edge, a small bookseller's label to the front pastedown and a newspaper review tipped in on the front free endpaper, are otherwise clean throughout without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the rubbed and nicked dustwrapper which has a couple of short closed tears with associated creasing at the edges. Not price-clipped (12s. 6d. net to the front flap).
