First UK edition, first printing. Publisher's original light green cloth with black titles to the spine, in Maurice Bennett illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, with a little bumping at the spine tips and corners, the cloth faded at the edges but clean and fresh. The contents with an erased pencil name to the front endpaper, and some dustiness to the closed text block edge, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that is somewhat dusty and spotted, with tiny chips at the spine tips and corners. Not price-clipped (8s net to the front flap, as called for). A difficult wartime title to obtain in dustwrapper.
