An excellent near fine copy, the binding clean with a slight lean and the corners sharp, the gilt is brilliant and without the oxidisation often seen. The contents are entirely complete and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. There are two tiny foxing spots to the vertical edge of the text block otherwise the pages are clean throughout. Complete with the lovely fine original dustwrapper. Not price-clipped (18s net to the front flap). A superb example of the scarcest Bond title to obtain first impression.

£11,000.00

Notes:

Of the 82,000 copies of the first edition printed only the first 940 copies were issued in this golden gun binding. Nearly the entire 940 copies were shipped to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand in advance of publication, which means the majority of copies suffer heavy foxing, oxidisation of the golden gun and general climate related condition issues. This copy has escaped all of those. [Gilbert A13a (1.1 First impression, first issue, first state.)].
