First edition, first printing. Inscribed presentation copy. Original blue cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Colour dustwrapper illustration and with line drawings throughout by CAM. An excellent near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents lightly spotted to the text block edge are otherwise clean and bright throughout. Complete with the lightly rubbed pictorial dustwrapper which is lightly spotted to the rear panel. Not price-clipped (10s 6d net to the front flap). An excellent association copy.

Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the front endpaper "For / The Serraillier Family / With my very / best wishes / Sincerely / Karel Jaeger [underlined]". The recipient is novelist and poet Ian Serraillier who at the time of presentation was a colleague of Karel Jaeger, both being teachers Midhurst Grammar School.
