London: William Heinemann. 1905

Description:

First Rackham illustrated edition, first printing. Publisher's original light green cloth boards with gilt titles and illustration to the upper board and spine, in dustwrapper. Green top-stain. Frontispiece and 50 illustrations bound at the rear by Arthur Rackham. A very good copy indeed, the binding square and firm with light rubbing at the extremities. The contents are entirely complete and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. There is evidence of a small bookplate being removed to the front pastedown and the text pages are spotted. All 51 mounted colour plates with tissue guards are present as called for and in fine condition. Complete with the genuinely very good dustwrapper which is a little rubbed and nicked at the extremities and toned to the spine but with little in the way of loss or tears. Very scarce in dustwrapper.
