Notes:

This set is number 27 of the projected run of 3000. To achieve publication, 11 publishing houses in Great Britain, the United States and Canada released their individual copyrights in exchange for the promise that no other complete edition of Churchill works would be published until the expiration of international copyright. This set was sent to and retained by the British publishing house Cassell & Company as part of that agreement. The Library of Imperial History went bankrupt before the run of 3,000 sets could be completed, so "the print run never exceeded 2,000 copies and only 1,750 sets were ever published" (Cohen). Four uniform volumes titled "The Collected Essays" were issued after "The Collected Works" in 1976 (not present). The Cassell archive also received set number 19, all but a few volumes since perished (one loose limitation label retained with this set). The titles include: My Early Life; My African Journey; The Story of the Malakand Field Force; The River War; The Boer War; Savrola: A Political Romance; Lord Randolph Churchill; Mr. Broderick's Army and Other Speeches; The World Crisis. Part 1: 1911-1914; The World Crisis. Part 2: 1915; The World Crisis. Part 3: 1916-1918; The World Crisis. Part 4: The Aftermath; The World Crisis. Part 5: The Eastern Front; Thoughts and Adventures; Marlborough, His Life And Times. Volumes 1 & 2; Great Contemporaries; Arms and the Covenant; Step by Step; War Speeches. Volumes 1, 2 & 3; The Second World War. Volume 1, Gathering Storm; The Second World War. Volume 2, Their Finest Hour; The Second World War. Volume 3, The Grand Alliance; The Second World War. Volume 4, The Hinge of Fate; The Second World War. Volume 5, Closing the Ring; The Second World War. Volume 6, Triumph and Tragedy; Post-War Speeches.
